So what did you anons think about Laserion? I finished it a couple days ago and I thought it was really cool. The writing could have been better, it didn't seemed all that planned out, and the MC is an idiot for the first half. I liked the music, the action scenes, the pacing (mostly), the animation, and the rest of the cast was mostly good. Plenty off mecha variety which was interesting. The last five episodes were pretty hype when I saw them, definitely some hotblooded "FUCK YEAH!" as it made its way into the finale. I know there are anons that didn't enjoy it, but I was wondering if anyone else did or at least thought it was decent. It's a nice little hidden treasure from the mid 80s and I'm glad Discotek brought it over. G5 is easily my favorite among the protag robots.

I'm trying to find this old movie for some time now but without success. I watched it as a child around late 90s / early 2000s. I think it just starts by showing a huge airship invading Earth or something. The protagonist later infiltrated the airship maybe to try to stop it. I dont recall hearing voice lines or anything, I dont know if it was because the TV was muted for being late or if the movie simply had no voices. The only vivid memory i have is this movie starting with this big ass airship.
Does anyone have a clue about what movie this could be? Thank you
Given that the end of the year is near, it's time to do a recap of everything released/TL'd this year: >-Discotek has brought over Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos (with its OVAs), Dorvack (with specials MAL and AniDB don't acknowledge exist including a crossover with Goshogun), Baxingar, and Sasuraiger; however Sasuraiger was only available for a month. Since the last update, they also announced Kamen Rider Black, Machine Robo Revenge of Chronos, Tetsujin 28 FX and GaoGaiGar. They also released Gavan. Tangentially /m/ releases include the completion of Project A-ko, the completion of the Symphogear franchise, the start of the Digimon releases and a few oddities here and there like Ishinomori's Flying Phantom Ship. >MegaBeastEmpire finished B-Fighter Kabuto and are working on Janperson No change here. >Sailor Otaku finally finised Exceedraft after all these years No change there either. >Inka Subs finished their GR: Giant Robo subs In the meanwhile, Inka did the Atlanger one-off OVA and D-1 Devastator, as well as an updated SD Gundam re-release. Currently mulling over what to translate, may or may not be /m/. >GANGO did a single episode of Granzort No change there sadly. >/m/subs is one episode away from finishing Getter Robo Getter is officially complete, however it still needs to be batched, and sasword has been having problems finding the raws for episodes 2 and 3. The Dragonar re-check is still ongoing, the big thing is /m/subs got a hold of the new QTS BD rip before the torrent died. Lensman is so far on hold until the remaining three episodes get their own raws. Regarding other subbers, MartyMcFlies has been very consistent with his Galatt, Borgman and Getter Go updates. Of course, add stuff I might have missed.

Do you lads see Zambot 3 as a "true classic" or is it mostly a historical piece? I lean more towards the latter. It has its moments (Killer the Butcher, human bomb arc, last 4 eps) but alot of the other episodes can be pretty anemic, especially during the first 9 episodes when the production staff were still trying to find their groove and the interesting/memorable elements hadn’t really kicked in. They also struggled making good robot fights, even the latter half had a few duds.
Definitely got the feeling that most of the buzz around this series comes down to it being interesting to look back upon (Sunrise’s first original, defined Tomino's career path, pulls a couple of genre conventions on their head), rather than being a well-made show in it’s own right. ”Impact over quality” is not a problem I have with ’70s anime as a whole, if anything there are quite a few that still stand strong on their own merits and aren’t as wooden in terms of direction (staging, lighting, editing/pacing, use of music, etc.). >Yamato and Harlock blend fantastical space adventures with heavy subject matter in a very appealing way, with some great music and cinematic direction to boot (especially in Harlock), and the characters ain’t too shabby either. These two really feel like the pure platonic ideal of a space opera come to life, the greybeards who see them as ”the greatest TV cartoons ever made” ain’t too far off. >Mazinger Z has alot of fun character interactions and devious ”master plans” to go with the iconic monsters >Danguard Ace is a heartfelt father and son story, and the giant robot stuff doesn't disappoint either (have only seen the 2013 compilation films though) >First Gundam did a good job in terms of forward momentum, while keeping the characters and battles interesting even during the less eventful episodes All in all I wouldn’t say I’ve been ”cheated” of my time for watching Zambot, I’m just curious about it’s following.
