He saw people moving onto a Gunpla battling platform that was far less of a financial drain in comparison to GPD, which was as close to Fighters style Gunpla battle that the Divers setting could get, complete with the whole "your Gunpla gets trashed if you lose" bit. The big flaw with GPD was that anyone, with enough funds and free time could just put together a Perfect Grade and dominate the competition, as seen in Re:RISE Episode 19, while anyone who lacked the funds or skills would be stuck with something like a snapbuilt High Grade. There was also the fact that GPD was only really prevalent in Japan.
GBN by contrast allowed for players to extensively customize and battle their Gunpla with people from all over the world without worry that all their hard work would be destroyed. Yes, the risk to the Gunpla was basically nonexistent, but that didn't make the battles any less thrilling to someone who had nothing else to compare it to, which Tsukasa failed to grasp. So rather than suck it up and get with the times, he decided to ruin things for EVERYONE since no one liked the thing he liked anymore.
