Thunderbirds was an humongous influence on japanese /m/ shows: every Ultra team from Ultraseven onwards, Mighty Jack, Destroy All Monsters (SY-3 is a ripoff of TB1), Kuchu Toshi 008, Zero Tester, Tsuburaya's dinosaur trilogy, X-Bomber/Star Fleet, early Metal Heroes (Gavan to Spielban had drill tanks), Saver Kids, Fighbird/Might Gaine, Idol Defense Force Hummingbird, GoGo-V, Machine Robo Rescue, Tomica Hero/Hyper Rescue, ID-0... Not to mention the dozens of homages to the TB2/Mole and their launch sequences. Hell, a moderately popular politician used it to appeal for a true pacifistic reform of the JSDF.
Then there's the whole deal about the Firestorm anime and Thunderbirds 2086/TechnoBoyager (who apparently changed its japanese name at the last minute because Thunderbirds reruns were performing badly).
Pity that UFO and especially Captain Scarlet don't seem to have so many homages, other than Anno's known devotion to SHADO. Closest thing I've found to a CS homage is Robot Detective's Joker car, which is supposedly based on the Spectrum Patrol Car. Would have loved to find something like "Super Sentai was inspired by Spectrum".
>>18649872>>18651540Trying to find raws, but sadly no luck yet. Customized samurai Gundams fighting with toys like "Variable Fighter Guncarrier", "anti-Scopedog Honda City", "robot made of Zero + F-15 pieces", "wood puzzle Gundam" and "Nazi tank kitbash overkill" sound like crazy shit.
