Discotek announced that that they have the license for Tetsujin 28-gou (1980) and will be releasing it on BD on January 29th 2019.
I'm actually surprised they're releasing it next month, it's coming out before several of the other series in their last bulk announcement as well as projects they've been working on for awhile like the US release of the 2000s Cyborg 009 series.

I finally caved into peer pressure and watched SSSS.Gridman by marathoning all of the current episodes in one sitting. I say this as a long time toku fan: I just don't care for it.

On the positive side it does prove that if you give Trigger staff a choke collar and a short enough leash not everything they make will be feces. The writing and suspense are decent, effort was put into the action scenes, it has a good art style, and with the exception of Anti nobody in the cast is annoying.

On the negative side the pacing is really slow, the animation quality is low quality with a lot of recycled footage outside of the action scenes, said action is usually too short outside of ep 7, the fans service in ep 5 was obnoxious, and the music is subpar at best.

I have a hard time calling it decent, I even prefer Devils' Line, Wotakoi, or Master of Ragnarok over this, but at least it was better than Planet With or the Overlord sequels. It's.... Kind of bad? Like Bokurano it teeters between bad and decent, there's just not that much to it. It's a shame because I do have interest in the source material.
