It's not. That's just a non-Japanese made-up term. In Japan, it's known as 長浜ロマンロボシリーズ (Nagahama Roman Robo Series) or 長浜忠夫ロマンロボットアニメ (Nagahama Tadao Roman Robot Anime).

It's composed of 4 series: Com-Battler V, Voltes V, Daimos, and Daltanious.

So one of my favorite arcs in Daimos happens between episodes 25-28 or so, when the Baam scientist Aizam comes to aid Richter in his fight against Daimos. It's the archetypical mid-season upgrade for the main robot, and it has some of the best fights of the show against some very interesting monster designs. But I've only ever experienced it dubbed, so when I watched episode 27, I was genuinely surprised by a major difference in the plot I was unaware of.

In the dub, the upgrade for Daimos comes in the form of what is essentially perfected Daimo Light energy. It increases Daimos' power output enough to use the new weapons and overcome Aizam's enhanced armor (similar to the Chodenji Ball arc in Voltes V). But in the subs the power comes from an entirely different souce.

Dr. Banks doesn't create perfected Daimo Light. He uses a ring from a Baam escapee to produce Aizaron Particles, the same particles Aizam is using to power his super mecha.

It's literally the villain's innovation used against them. I think that's pretty damn cool, and I'm confused why they'd change it so drastically in the dub. Anyone have any ideas?

Yamato is great, like an over nationalistic take on Star Trek with a really fatalistic view of war.
Galatic Railroad is kinda hit & miss specially on the mid part you can find a lot of intriguing concepts but you can also run into a lot of cheesy and formulaic stuff (great for a drinking game though)
Harlock has a great soundtrack and good production values but most of the cast can be annoying as shit (except Queen Rafflesia) and some decisions by the MC doesn´t make any sense.

Why aren't you supporting Popeye for Smash? He has nearly 40 years of history with the company, was one of their first arcade games, and was a Famicom launch title. You can't get much better credentials than that.

Jet Jaguar is nowhere near as popular as the American Godzilla fanbase thinks he is, and he's only so popular in America because of MST3K constantly playing Vs Megalon. The rest of the western fanbase doesn't particularly care about him, and the Japanese fanbase can barely remember who he is at the best of times.

It's alright.

Personally I always recommend going in blind starting with End of Evangelion, pausing whenever you feel like the weird shit is getting too weird so as to start the tv series and gain context, before finally going through EoE as the finale. Not the stock recommended viewing order, but EoE out of context was what really sold me on everything else about the franchise.
