For being simply a fancy arrangement of fabric, the bow is an essential part of many ponies' looks. Still, it's not just ponies, either - a smart piece accentuates dragons and owls just as handily. And it's such a classic, it combines well with most any season's fashion, despite how strange fads can become.

They just might end up in different wears, depending; one year it was even in to have them adorning guards' spears. Celestia never minded, but it didn't last to the chagrin of a significant portion of the barracks.
