I don't really mind. It's natural for any suggestion list about Things To Try, be it for movies or film or games. It's never gonna be a 100% cohesive list.

Though the v6 version has been lying half-finished in this folder for a while, I really need to put the final touches on it.

It's a Goldeneye/Perfect Dark emulator that runs both games @ 60 FPS on max resolution with full mouse aim support.

Speaking of which, I've noticed the Saturn port of Street Fighter Alpha 3 actually has some slowdown during some character's super combos, yet most sources I've seen say it's the best version. I prefer the DC version due to faster load times, no slowdown, being in English for World Tour mode, and being able to select Shin Akuma right from the start if I feel like bullying the CPU.
Only downsides are the DC's controller and supposedly unfaithful-to-the-arcade hitboxes.

What about Alpha 3 Upper?
I think for these type of threads, we should stick to retro ports. The PS2 had so many collection-type titles that it wouldn't be fair.

when thinking of which version of a game to buy i don't consider that criterion at all

plus it's not always given that the port to the higher-end hw will be the best, look at sfa3 saturn vs dc (where my preference is for saturn), it just happens to be true that ps2 sfa3 is better than dc

as for sfa3 upper, that's an expanded port but not definitive in my head. the other versions of sfa3 aren't "missing" the extra characters as a sin of omission, it just so happens that upper includes them as bonus extras that don't necessarily redefine what sfa3 should be.

Damn, just imagine what Chrono Trigger would be like if halfway through the game Ayla was murdered, Robo was re-programmed to destroy you, Lucca turned against you because you pay too much attention to Marle, Magus was killed at the hands of his own mother, and Glenn began to go insane and hate himself for not being able to confront Magus and eventually kills himself. You think Marle is the one ally you had left, but in reality, she is slowly succumbing to Lavos' influence. At the end of the story, you discover that you are a genetically mutated Lavos spawn and your very presence has the same effect as Lavos': spreading hate and fear wherever you walk. I think after Crono discovers that everyone he comes into contact with will meet a horrible fate, he would end up a bit pissed.
By the way, have I heard this somewhere before? I feel the whole "everyone you meet will die horribly" thing has been done before somewhere, I just can't remember.

That makes sense (and is the subject of several doujinshi), but I took it at face value. The game's about a couple of twinks wielding giant planet-destroying swords like they were Nerf weapons, her selling flowers to make a living wasn't that big of a stretch.

On the other hand the game had a surprisingly thoughtful and realistic portrayal of female characters.

From what I hear, there's a small community of people who still do.
However, from what I've seen, the games that still have active communities are ones with superior PC versions with larger communities (i.e. Quake 3 Arena and Phantasy Star: Online.)

All I want is to play some ChuChu Rocket! online...

2X on the Xbox is the best version (it has a shitload of levels, including all of the original THPS), but you said consoles, as in plural, which is wrong because you are retarded.

The only other consoles that THPS2 was released on were the PS1 and the N64. The PS1 version is solid,but the N64 version is blurry ass with a butchered soundtrack and is nigh unplayable with the godawful N64 controller (pic is from THPS3, but you get the idea).

On a side note, the GBA THPS games were pretty awesome. They ditched 3D for an isometric view that surprisingly worked out really well. Only downside was that the control scheme suffered a little due to the GBA only having two buttons for some stupid reason.

DC version is nice because it's super easy to replace the .adx files on burned copies so you can replace the soundtrack with converted .mp3s if you want. The Xbox version still triumphs on account of the custom soundtrack feature though.
