Agreed. Sort of. The one thing I've detested most of all about that Retcon 5 (get it? Cuz if you buy it, you've been conned!) is its hideous design and multiple slots. The Game Cube, the only console I've ever owned newer than the original Playstation, had a decent idea with the GBA add-on wherein the slot was front loading rather than top. Something like that might be nice: a top loading slot for N64 with an adapter for SNES/SFC, a front-loading slot for the NES/Famicom and a side loading slot for GBA/GB/GBC.
Or just make it the size of the Retrode. That one's barely larger than an eyeglass case, though I've never seen it in action nor read any reviews on it.

Considering the whole PAL/SECAM/NTSC thing doesn't much matter these days as most HDMI televisions can handle multiple frequencies anyway, it'd be nice were it region free somehow, no?

A NES controller doesn't have enough buttons to do shit on a SNES or N64 but the latter could work on the NES.
Same for the N64 for the SNES.

That would have been a risky but cool as fuck move from their part.

If it would happen now I would fucking buy it. If the NES is the same model as the old one, build quality is top notch, and documentation is good and plenty.

That'd be pretty cool, assuming modern libraries... I don't really see those able to work with the NES though. Everything was in assembly. To get a game to look exceptionally good you had to do riding the beam tier shit. Games still had huge slowdown issues.

Nearly every single thread mentioning CVII has had a comment or two elaborating on the faults of the game. No, it's not the fact it's "different": it's the fact the level design is bland and pathetically easy combined with obtuse "puzzles" that are barely interesting the first time you do them. You'll find similar sentiments sprinkled all throughout the internet, not just on 4chan. It's not a popular game on any Castlevania forum I ever went to.

It's a shitty successor to CV1. CV1 had interesting platforming/enemy bits, CV2 had none. CV2 actual difficulty was zero due to instant respawn on the same stage. The levels are just a slog.

You have to grind for better weapons and items and it's boring as hell.

The only challenging part are the 'puzzles' that can't be solved unless you're using a walkthrough. Please who claim to have beaten it unspoiled are trolls.

In other words, it's a shitty Castlevania game that has nothing that makes a Castlevania game good (except maybe the OST) and a shitty game in general.

I don't agree with that. I don't think acceptance of or indifference to someone's suffering is a more positive choice than helping her with selfish goals in mind. The protagonist being roleplayed in the OP is not a great person but it's not by any means worse than an apathetic passerby.
