Do you ever get a difficult point between buying new games and playing the ones you have? I have been really good about not adding more games to my backlog in the last 6 months or so, but just recently I've been buying more games in a flurry of acquisitions. I suppose it's fine since I've cleared more games than that off my list in the time since I stopped buying games, but I feel almost like I'm just digging myself deeper and spreading myself thin. It doesn't help that I really should be focusing more on my studies and on finishing my own game design work.
Pic not mine, but humorously from a page called 'curse of the video game backlog'.
With the 8th generation of consoles here along with the ever-growing capabilities of computers and phones, development costs are skyrocketing (no thanks to marketing costs.) In ye olden days of the '80s and '90s development could cost less than $500,000 even for an RPG. While retro-style games are popular with indie developers, one could theoretically make games for the Genesis or NES, change the button icons, and put them on PSN or Xbox Live. Sure, it'd be a pain to train developers in assembly, but think about it: next-to-nothing porting costs, fully authentic retro feel, and low development costs. I don't think anybody cares about making games for old systems (they've been dead for over a decade.)
>saw rule of rose CIB two days ago at The Xchange Chicago for 85 american dollars
>almost buy it but remember the game was pretty mediocre actually just really want it for rarity >girlfriend see that I want it and even offers to buy it for me as a birthday present >still decline because i really didnt want it that bad
She went back to buy it for me anyway and it was sold. I really dont feel bad for missing it, but I hope whoever picked it up was a collector and not some reseller scum. The asking price for this title is fucking ludicrous
Ok /vr/. I bought a Sega Genesis off Ebay. It's an early 1989 model, came with two controllers, RF connector, original AC adapter, and "cables". Was only $50, so I jumped on it. He had no other pictures besides all the equipment together, showing the front, but he had a good rating and it looked to be in excellent condition.
I just got it today, and...what the fuck. The "cables" are directly soldered into the motherboard through the AV port. He said it was a mistake and that I got a "demo unit" while someone else got mine. I told him to give me a full refund and the other guy's contact info so we can exchange systems, and he agreed, but that was hours ago and the last message I sent got no reply, nor do I have any refund receipt.
Can anyone tell me what the fuck is this shit? My test cartridge isn't here yet and won't be for at least a week, so I have no way of testing it.
I heard you guys know about rom hacks. Does a chart like pic related exist for Metroid hacks? I'm getting desperate since there probably won't be another 2D Metroid ever again, but I need a new one to survive. Thank you in advance.
