Not really that necessary, I'm fine with round based reloading than magazine based, but if you want to do it, I'd love to see it done. I'd expect there to be a lot of work involved.

Thanks dude. I forgot to mention that map03 is actually a semi-remake of my favourite Chex Quest level where everything did indeed "happen twice." I could probably go for messing with that though. I might scrap it and redo it; a lot of it doesn't feel like "me."

Strangely it was sometimes possible to find quality in bootleg carts. I have one that says "250 in 1" and it actually does have around 200 separate games in it. I also had a 99999 in 1 cart with Super Contra in it, and they had discreetly hacked it to enable the player to select the starting level by pressing select at the ready screen.

Yes.
The problem is that they haven't actually finished the firmware yet; the USB driver is one of the features that hasn't been finished yet, so they nig-rigged together a temporary one using what appears to be the wifi driver (this is why Windows thinks it's a network adapter). I have no doubt that they'll fix it in the next few firmware updates, but the fact that this was a problem in the first place really says a lot about how long it took them to get their shit together.

I love bolt-actions for that too, there's something almost musical when unlocking the bolt, moving it backwards to extract & eject the spent casing, cocking the gun, and then to move it forward to pick up the next round, and finally locking it.

Valis I on the Turbografx-SuperCD (TG-SCD) and Super Valis IV on the Super NES were actually pretty good. Valis III on the Sega Genesis wasn't bad, either. The rest of them though were either very mediocre (Valis I on the Sega Genesis, Valis II on the Turbografx-CD), too difficult (The Turbografx-CD versions of Valis III and Valis IV) or just downright awful (Syd of Valis aka Valis SD, the NES and computer versions of Valis I)

The only Valis games I'd consider "borderline Eroge" (besides Valis X) would be all of the computer versions of Valis II (Not the turbografx-CD version). There is partial nudity in one cutscene in those versions, and there's lots of blood and gore, too. The TG-SCD version of Valis I is "borderline borderline Eroge", since shows Yuko getting dressed in the opening cutscene (you can see her bra/panties, that's all), and you can see her panties every time she jumpes; but other than that, it's nothing major.

Well, the problem is I want to use the controller for the PC versions of Densha de Go games.
The PC controller costs like $260 on the used market and it's exactly the same thing with a USB port.
The gameport version would cost me about $100 to get my hands on and then I'd have to pay another $15 for a (not loop-through) gameport to USB adapter. Both register as regular joystick/controller. No special drivers required. So I'd rather use the controller I already own.

I guess the most important question is as what exactly the adapter registers the controllers with Windows. Regular gamepads?

So, got the adapter.

The adapter does convert some input of the Densha de Go controller, but the behavior is rather weird.
The left handle is interpreted as a bunch of button press combinations by the default driver, the right handle is interpreted as more or less random positions of the Z axis.
And once you hit START, the behavior completely changes until you reconnect the controller.
I think I'll write some sort of "driver" that converts raw USB data (not data interpreted by the driver) into key presses. That seems like the easiest solution, and that would achieve all I need.
When I'm done, I'll probably post it on /vg/. Unfortunately I have absolute no time on my hands for that until some time in April.

yeah

one of the coolest ones I ever remember using was "Spider Laura" on psx with the gameshark. it let her climb on every wall in the game, made things way different.
