I dun' goofed, /fit/.

Up until a few days ago, I had been running a modified 5x5, and every single day I maxed my squat.

Well, the last time I maxed my squat, my drive out of the bottom was shit and it turned into a semi-squatmorning. On my next lifting day, I went to warm up with 1 plate on my dead, and noticed I had pretty bad pain in my lower back, and keeping my back straight was near-impossible. The same thing happened when I tried to squat after that.

So my question is, how bad am I fucked? Did I just pull something that will eventually heal, or am I screwed?

I've just started going to the gym and I thought it would be a good idea to get my brother to assist me and teach me stuff.

However, when I told him I would like to do squats, bench presses, and deadlifts he laughed at me and told me I'm stupid, and that those are for advanced lifters. I told him I wanted to do a beginner's workout and that I found something called Starting Strength and it was specifically for novices but he just said it was a stupid program, because I should be lifting everyday. He told me to do lat pulldowns on a machine, then abs on a ball and other stuff which I think is not really that useful compared to the compounds.

He's been lifting weights for 6-7 years, but he's neither big nor jacked. Is he a dumbass?

I read the sticky and Starting Strength is ok according to it.
Plus Scooby said so too, and many other places on the net recommend it.

Should I just disregard my brother's advice and do SS, like I want to?

okay /fit/ i've lost 40 lbs since the summer and i'm feeling in some of the best shape of my life

biking swimming and longboarding with a core group of school bros for the past 6months has me feeling like never before

i've reached the clouds and felt some real happiness

the only problem is i'm still an autist with no dating experience


i've been using okcupid and other places to fish for cute grills at work and had some varying success, but this one grill has me stuck

we exchanged phone numbers about a week ago and i sent her a text followed by a voicemail the next day trying to reach out

i've seen her online a butt ton and already consulted fb for confirmation it's really her

So my gym bro just found out from his MD that he has manletism; his growth plates are sealed and it's terminal at 5'6".

How can I be supportive? As someone who personally beat manletism I feel selfish just being around him, it wasn't his fault.

So I got a date on Sunday with some qt 3.14 at a restaurant. What do you guys do before a date? to enhance your body like doing push ups or lifting before to make your veins pop out and have your muscles pumped. I'm currently at 9% bodyfat and would like to know what to do to look better for the date.

have been taking the maximum recommended dose of a cycline antibiotic for 20+ weeks now, along with BP, which I've moved up to 10% twice a day now (after being recommended to begin on 2.5% once a day). my acne is still fucking awful.

I have a history of depression, so Accutane is out of the question.

am still 18, but figured my hormones would be decreasing by now. if anything, this shit is now spreading to my back and chest.

only thing I haven't really tried is cutting dairy, which I don't have much of anyway. does dairy make a huge difference?
