I bet I am not the only one of the 4chan twenty-somethings to watch the Olympics and feel the sudden desire to do pick up a sport on a competitive level.
I think I'll try something from the middle distance.
Does anyone here compete at a serious level?
Could I be successful as a pretty old newcomer?

I gotta vent, /fit/. There is this old friend (since we were both 4) that i go to the gym with, and he's an absolute bro to hang around with, but his social skills are terrible:
>I'm spotting for him while he's benchpressing.
>some girl (8/10, might even be 9/10 if she worked out a bit more, but i figured that's why she's in the gym) is ogling him
>walks up to him during his rest in between sets, says she wants to see a "pro" (she actually said that) do benching, since she's new to it.
>He obliges, of course.
>I figure that he could use some social interaction since he's normally a shut-in, so i do some easy cable curls nearby to kill the time
>I'm still able to hear and see them, and she's doing a pretty fucking good job for a newbie
>They keep talking after she's done (which is quite an achievement, since he normally always drops his spaghetti with girls above 6/10)
>They talk about mundane gym topics like "How long he's been working out, what kind of diet he uses and how much he can bench" to "where does he live, how old is he exactly, does he have a relation, does he want children and a family and all".
>After that he comes back to me and he's as happy as a Jew with free food. He then tells me that she's totally into him and absolutely wants him.
>I barely manage to convince him that she's just asking for professional advice and that she's not really interested into him personally.
Now don't get me wrong, i really like the guy and we've been friends for our entire lives, but he has the social IQ of an autistic beaver, which is why he's unable to have a proper relationship and even decent sex, while he's already 22. What do I do /fit/? I don't want to hurt the guys feelings, but he has to learn it some way.
