Imagine if China conquered Japan and slowly assimilated all Japanese people until they became indistinguishable from themselves. As the Chinese rules over Japan, the original Japanese culture becomes wiped out. Hundreds of years later, the Chinese empire begins to weaken and fall apart. The inhabitants of Japan begin to fight for the independence. American weeaboos, longing to restore the land of their animes, volunteer to fight for the Japanese resistance. But when they arrive in Japan, they are sorely disappointed by the zhangoid faces. Their expectations of eating authentic sushi are dashed by the crypto-chinese inhabitants who eat lo mein and peking duck. The American weeaboo legion recites speeches from naruto and k-on to inspire the Japanese soldiers, but they just look on blankly. Nevertheless, they keep fighting until the Chinese overlords are pushed out. The American weeaboos are pleased that Japan exists again, but a sinking feeling that the real Japan is gone forever still lingers. Now replace China with Turkey, Japan with Greece, American weeaboos with English classical scholars, and this shit actually happened.

What makes America so impenetrable? We've never had an invasion on home soil in the history of our country. Literally every war is fought outside of America with no risk of attacks on the homeland. Is it because God is on our side?

Sure, it's probably going to change the shape of warfare but right now, we still have by far and away the most powerful, capable military force on the planet. We're also one of the only nations who have looked into space warfare, which is also going to be how war is conducted in the future. Hope you like being bombarded from orbit through satellites.

You retain your human freedom after you are justified. God will complete the work He has begun if you cooperate with him. But if you grow negligent, if you fail to bear fruit, you will be cut off.
I did not get around to asking you, but reading your posts, I question whether you hold the position that one text of scripture cannot contradict another text?

>>14471487 I have not really explained my point clearly. I'll try to now, albeit after the thread has closed.
To that end, I’ll provide my own periphrastic interpretation of the passage.
James has encountered some people who claim faith but do not believe they need to show any fruit of their faith. James then asks, can such faith save him? Now, what faith is James referring to here? The faith claimed by the interlocutor. The obvious rhetorical answer is that this man’s faith cannot save him. Faith without works is like saying I want you to be warm and well-feed without giving you a blanket or food. It’s non-sense. That’s why he concludes in verse 17 saying that such a faith, like the one the interlocutor claims, is dead “according to itself.” It’s useless.

2/ But what if someone claims “You have faith, I have works,” how can it be possible to even show you have faith without doing something? James, says, I will show you my faith by my works, but how can you show James your faith without works? If one wants to claim “I believe God is one!” Here is my faith! James responds, even the demons have that “faith.” To prove that faith without deeds is useless, James goes on to appeal to a Patriarch and a Matriarch. Abraham was considered righteous from his actions—when he placed Isaac his son on the altar. You see, Abraham’s faith synergizes [or works alongside] Abraham’s works and from his works, his faith is perfected. This fulfills what is said in Scripture “Abraham believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness and he was called a friend of God.” Faith and works cannot be separated. Even though Abraham is justified before sacrificing Isaac, his faith is perfected by offering up Isaac on the altar.
Anonymous
Quoted By:
3/ Look, Abraham proves that if you try to separate faith from works, it doesn’t work. That is because a man is justified by what he does and not from faith only. Abraham shows there is a necessary symbiotic relationship between the two wherein they cannot be separated (as James has argued in v. 18-19). A true faith is always and inseparably conjoined to works. If you need further evidence consider Rahab, the prostitute. She testifies to this symbiosis, too. Wasn’t she was justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out by a different route? Even as the body with the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead. It’s impossible to have one without the other.

Christianity is polytheistic. The Trinity is three gods no matter how you want to square it, but technically Jesus is only "a god" because the Father is said to be his source and he is God in the proper sense apart from the shared nature of the Trinity. Not only that, many Christians literally worship bread and wine as God. Many Christians venerate Mary to a goddess like status and consider her the Queen of Heaven. Christians have thousands of saints they also pray to. They have numerous images and statues they might even offer incense too. Satan is called the "god of this world." Many Christians believe the gods of other nations exist they just say they are demons. They also have guardian angels, Pentecostals say every nation has a territorial spirit over it. How is this not polytheism?
Anonymous
Quoted By:
It's quite ok to have polytheist beliefs. It makes sense to compartmentalize your dealings with the divine and to respect different aspects of spiritual life. Monotheism is worthless for humans as God's perfect, all-encompassing nature means no verbs beyond "to be" can be used to refer to it; making for tedious reading and discussion.
