1. Explain Hinton Rowan Helper's argument that slavery had enslaved the South?

2. Was he worried about the morality of slavery? Explain.

3. Why did Helper’s attack enrage, and perhaps frighten, Southerners more than Lincoln’s did?

Is Christianity the most contradictory religion in history? It espouses the good, yet the most evil and murderous character in the Bible is God, and the more devout one is to the religion, the more evil one seems to become (stricter, harsher, colder, more demanding, more commanding, more focused, even crueler and more vengeful). Who can regard these traits as good? Useful, sure; practical, sure; necessary, perhaps; but good, really?

The Myth of the Dark Ages

The destruction of the western Roman empire was an unprecedented leap in human progress.

Rome:
>totalitarian hell
>forced state religion
>upper classes look down on the peasants, exploit them constantly
>several monarchs are insane
>money is expected to go to the state as part of a loyal citizen's duty
>top eschlons of society are literate enough to write plays about ass fucking and the awesome things they did and are so looked on as an enlightened place

Germanic "Barbarian" Invaders:
>leadership based largely on consensus
>Religious tolerance
>have to work with the lower classes and govern close to them
>leaders have to be capable to be legitimize
>money is distributed by the state to people to get loyalty
>less literacy, less self-aggrandizement, so viewed as a dark age

Evil people in history

No.5824047 View ViewReplyLast 50OriginalReport
Can someone give me some examples of some people in history who did evil deeds and got away with them?
The more recent the examples, the better.
They don't have to be politicians or leaders. Just people who did bad things without suffering any direct consequences.

I think most people, or at least I do, have an ingrained idea that bad people who do bad deeds always get punished in the end(sort of like the just world fallacy).
I would like some examples that prove otherwise.

Here are some examples that I have found:

The Shah of Iran.
He was responsible for political imprisonment and torture, at the hands of his intelligence agency.
He was eventually overthrown, but was given asylum in egypt and never faced justice for his evil deeds. He died at age 60 from a pre-existing medical condition.
According to Wikipedia, his "wealth remained considerable during his time in exile".

Joseph Stalin
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_and_state_funeral_of_Joseph_Stalin
On 5 March 1953, at 21:50 EET, Joseph Stalin, the second leader of the Soviet Union, died at the Kuntsevo Dacha aged 74 after suffering a stroke.
The closest Stalin came to receiving justice would be his paranoia. Other than that, he lived into his old age and retained his power and security the entire time.

Does the idea of God the Father symbolize the patriarchy as the ideal society?
