As I show, many of these women live in a condition of administrative or social “nonexistence”—that is, in the vulnerable position of being an unrecognized citizen—which distinguishes them from the rest of the population. My analysis is based on the ethnographic data I collected in four twin cities—Hekou (Yunnan Province) and Dongxing (Guangxi Province) in China; and Lào Cai (Lào Cai Province) and Móng Cái (Quảng Ninh Province) in Vietnam (see figure 1)—and some surrounding villages in the Sino-Vietnamese borderlands between 2006 and 2010, as part of my research on cross-border marriages. Although located in regions largely inhabited by ethnic groups, these cities are mainly populated by Chinese Han who recently migrated from other provinces and are involved in cross-border trade. The scope of my research includes neither the reported human trafficking cases involving women from mountainous ethnic groups (Lazzarino 2014) nor the specific cases of indigenous intermarriages between members of ethnic groups living in neighboring upland communities.1 Since the topic of cross-border marriages is regarded as highly sensitive and secretive by local authorities due to its connection with illegal migration, I relied entirely on a “snowball” method among locals to approach mixed couples facing various challenges in their daily life in the borderlands. This research method entailed building a network of acquaintances through the personal connections of an initially limited number of informants, and leaving it up to them to introduce me as inconspicuously as required to others whom they felt would be receptive and suitable for my research. The subjects of my study were Chinese men (either Han, or acculturated and urbanized Zhuang2from Guangxi) and Vietnamese women (mostly Kinh, the major ethnic group in Vietnam, and occasionally other ethnic groups3) directly involved in cross-border marriages. I shared moments of these couples’ lives, observed their activities, collected life stories, and conducted semi-structured interviews with them, as well as with members of the communities with which they interacted.

They do seem retardedly woke. I don't read Jacobin a lot, but the few articles I have have all been focused on labour organising, the union movement, the failure of neo-liberal policies like austerity. They're OK. I don't see them doing too many articles about trans seven year olds. And Sanders' policies were good too. Increasing taxes on the rich, medicare for all, college for all. Those were his top, first and foremost policies. Not woke platitudes like Warren's 'amplify black trans voices'. He had and actual, substantive, class-based focus.

Warren's and AOC's politics are the exact same thing, one is just rebranded red for the younger, more idealistic crowd. Aimee Terese and Angela Nagle have covered that shit extensively. There's some rank and file who aren't liberals at the end of the day, but they're few and far between. Bernie was a bit better, but his 2020 campaign is a perfect illustration of why that whole crowd is just liberals, it got sidetracked by dumb social issues.

1. It says "parts or all". Most of the dynasties mentioned, like Western Xia and Liao ruled like 1% of a sliver of northern China on the border. Liao barely ruled a sliver of small land around Beijing in then northeast and Western Xia only ruled a sliver of small land in the northwest.

2. Imperial China refers to the era from the Qin dynasty in 221 BC to the Qing dynasty down to 1912. China had multiple dynasties in the feudal era before Imperial China, like the Shang dynasty from 1600 BC to the Zhou dynasty down to 256 BC.

3. China ruled and raped all the barbarians in Mongolia during the Han dynasty and Tang dynasty.

As for history, the Mongols conquered and raped Russia in a lightning blitzkrieg campaign and the nomads like the Crimean Tatars, Nogais, Kazan Tatars have historically dominated and raided Russia for the past 1,500 years. Ming dynasty China conquered, raped and enslaved the Jianzhou Jurchens (ancestors of Manchus) in the Nurgan regional military commission for two centuries before the Jianzhou Jurchens became Manchus and revolted. The Manchu royal family Aisin Gioro were originally chiefs appointed by the Ming and subjects of the Ming emperor. The Aisin Gioro royal family also whored it's princesses out to Han Chinese generals and officers for them to defect.

The Qing dynasty itself sent Han Chinese bannermen to easily defeat and massacre Russian Cossacks at the battle of Albazin. Back in 2014 I got a Chiappa 1887 (like the one from terminator) because ever since i seen the move i wanted one. I think i got it off of a brownells website. anyway when i got it i treated it like royalty. cleaned it, polished it, shot it anytime i went to the range. A month after i got it i went out to shoot with some pals. when we got there i showed them the 1887 and they thought it was neat yet pointless gun to own. when they said "pointless" I said "does THIS look pointless?". Then I one handed it and fired it. Beforehand I looked at them and said "i'll be back". needless to say i tore up my right wrist and had to go to the E.R. They now call me "The Tardinator" whenever i mention the gun.
I want someone to relate but nobody should deserve my fate. no one should be called "The Tardinator". Anyway post your stories
