Hi /k/, here´s my problem.

In my country are happening a series of protests caused by the UNAH students and the police have to control it by throwing tear gas bombs.

The thing is that for my sociology class we need to do an essay about it and I want to know what kind of tear gas bomb are using the police. I only have some barrettes that I collected from the ground; I know that isn´t too much but I hope someone could help me.

I mean, I'd take a shop owner that just doesn't like Trump much over the typical main-stream gun culture shop owner. So what do you all think about this? I'm just not sure this is a situation that has a good solution, but hopefully I'm wrong and someone will list a ton of companies that suck less than others. My apologies if there's already an FAQ on this somewhere that I missed.

Did anyone carry a rocket launcher or recoilless rifle in Afghanistan? Was it better than a 10-20lb paper weight? I can't imagine a less optimized weapon for the terrain (shooting against an elevated enemy 600m+) but I am speaking from ignorance.

I am finally rid of the POS when the buffer tube just abruptly decides to shear off. The armor ressurected the POS again and again. USAF armorers will NEVER throw anything away. These dudes are magpies to the extreme, going so far as to raid piles of weapons the army slated for destruction for parts. Its like some kind of bizzaro land where the USAF is impoverished when it comes to small arms.

Worked with some USAF guys who actually left the wire. They were miserable during parts of stateside training where they had to wear the USAF uniform because it was only produced in winter style. They had to wait for Afghanistan to totally ditch it for Army issue multicam uniforms. They also had to ditch their IBA (in 2010!) for an Army unit supplied Eagle plate carrier.

I also remember Bagram as being super weird because per countrywide SOP everybody carried weapons, but the USAF guys didn’t carry any mags. It was like some kind of war zone LARP.

I was only there for my end of deployment flight. I noticed the magless thing at the big BX and walking to and from the main food hall. I don’t know the names of the buildings.

On Army FOBs there tended to variations on how stuff was carried, on an established FOB it was mag out in a pocket or mag holder thing on the side of the rifle. On smaller outposts it was rock’n’roll, though I don’t think it was officially sanctioned and was an order on the downlow by local leadership.

I literally just posted a stat collected from the Soviets (the The 6th Guards Tank Army to be exact) that quite unmistakably states T-34s managed on average 2500-3000kms alongside the M2A2s they had in service.

I don't doubt there would've been T-34s in service struggling to crack past the 1500km mark due to the large variance in quality control and the roller coaster ride Soviet industry went through earlier in the war, but its simply untrue and totally disingenuous to say that 1500km was the average service life for the entire duration of the war.

Its a indisputable fact at this point that 1 for 1 a Sherman was a better and probably on the whole a somewhat more reliable vehicle then a T-34, the only thing I'm disputing is the extent to which the latter is true.

A significant number of the attacks made on the reliability of the T-34 use disproportionate amounts of anecdotes and statistics from early war performance which in reality are only testament to the dire state of Soviet industry at the time as opposed to the tank itself. Late war stats like the one I provided (from 1944) help prove this by showing the T-34 to be a reasonably capable and reliable machine once the Soviet industrial capacity was back on its feet.
