Well that's about it /k/ I need a firearm.

I'm surrounded by sketchy types and I no longer feel safe in my apartment.

I have $1300 coming to me in a tax refund in the next few weeks and can afford a cheap pistol. I've fired my dad's .22 pistol before, but it is a very small model and not comfortable.

Can I expect to get a reasonably sound firearm for around $600? Something with stopping power that I can aim at a leg to incapacitate?

My philosophy was to carry a pistol I'd take shooting any day; not a single-role "hell-if-i-have-to-put-more-than-50rds-through-this-thing-goddamn-it's-uncomfortable"

It really comes down to whether you want something more comfortable to shoot, or something more comfortable to wear. The P938 is square in the middle for me. Paid $550 new.

But, which one is the BEST 9mm handgun, in general? My vote still goes for the VP9, better more consistent trigger. Better trigger than even the P30 LEM which has by far the best hammer trigger in a 9mm pistol.

Probably real, the serial #s are both correct for the ones that are on display in the grey room which is where it looks like it was taken. The early phase prototype appears to be in better condition than it is now since the LAM is now missing the dial on the side.

Close, they aren't at the factory but at the US headquarters in VA (at least currently, the EU and US headquarters swap guns from time to time).

They still have the firing pins and are fully functional.

You realize most of us that spend money on FALs do it because we're looking for an FAL specifically and not looking to choose a .308 rifle right?

On top of that, OP just asked for the difference between barrels.

Medium contour:
Pros
>can shoot longer without overheating barrel
Cons
>takes longer to cool down barrel
>about a pound heavier than a standard barrel

Standard:
Pros
>barrel cools faster
Cons
>barrel overheats faster

I'd take a standard personally. I've been waiting for them to come back in stock around with a carry handle receiver, but still no luck.

I emailed DSA too about the current lead time on SA58 standards with type 2 receivers but haven't heard back yet.
