Joseph had to endure horrific injuries and bloodshed, including the death of his best friend and losing his arm, and then later got knife in the throat by DIO.
Jotaro was the perfect Chad but had one flaw: autism. He only ever had one women because of it. He also endured pain I can't imagine, at the hands of DIO, Kira and was later slashed through the stomach by a gay priest. He is another Joestar who's entire life revolved around "fighting evil" rather than pleasure.
Then you had Josuke. Maybe he lived a good life after part 4, but he lost a lot of friends, his grandfather, grew up without a father and had take glass straight through his hands.
Giorno, do I have to even mention him? His mother was a whore who would leave him on his own as a baby so she could go out partying and his stepfather abused him. His Dad was DIO. He had the pain of losing various body parts (including his eye) during part 5 and saw the absolute worst humanity can be in Ciccolata. Experiences like that aren't something you forget easy.
Then finally Jolyne. Arguably suffered the most physical punishment in the entite Jojo series (including but not limited to; coughing up her own lungs, being eat by bugs, getting bea up numerous times, having to turn her body into a mobious strip) and still, she fucking died anyway.
THe Joestars were kind but cursed. I feel like them, but I want to be DIO. Although he died, DIO lived a far better life than any Joestar in the 4 years after he was hauled from the seafloor.
