What if some prisoners out to be innocent, and that was discovered AFTER their punishment has been dealt? What if that punishment was the death penalty? One could have it so that the law severely punishes judges to lower the chances of death penalties being meted out, but that would be self-defeating. One could have it so that the law gives the legal system about two decades worth of time while the suspect rots in a jail cell in the meantime, but that would be significantly costly and remains brutally unfair for the potentially innocent suspect.
The risk of exploitation and harming innocents are not the only arguments to oppose a death penalty, but surely even people who view criminals as subhuman would care about who receives it, or realise the impracticality of capital punishment.

I understand the concept of internalised bigotry, but the usage of this word (most frequently used nowadays to shut down people of Jewish descent for their critiques of the Israeli government and state) seems to be little more than a weaponisation of the concept, akin to how people accuse white individuals who lean against the right-wing of being "self-hating" on the basis of their "race".
It feels even more nauseating in the context of how people of Jewish descent have been treated in Europe historically, because it effectively exclaims that the accused is spreading the very concept used to justify their own extermination.
